Membership

The Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute offers three main types of membership. These are associate membership, Rime membership and loyalty membership.  We welcome your application.

By becoming a member you will help not only the Institute but will also receive many benefits.

The Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute is an Australian organisation dedicated to spreading the non-sectarian Rime Buddhist Teachings throughout Australia. The Institute is the only holder of the Jonang Kalachakra lineage in Australia. 

Associate Membership 

Associate membership is available for anyone who wishes to stay connected with the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute and attend some of our classes or other events. 

Benefits of Associate Membership include:

- Become connected with a spiritual life through the precious lineage of Rime and Jonang             masters of Khentrul Rinpoche.

- Have your name sent to Tibet once of year to be blessed by hundreds of monks in several of       Tibet’s greatest monasteries.

- The constant practices and prayers offered by people in the Institute and monasteries                 connected with it will be especially dedicated to the wellbeing of all its members.

- Receive 5% discount on shop items and events run by the Institute.

- Receive regular e-mail updates on all the activities and events of the Institute.

- Be able to borrow books from the extensive collection of Buddhist books in our library.

Rime Membership

Rime membership is available for anyone who wishes to participate in regular classes and other events offered by the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute, and enjoy other privileges as listed below.

Additional benefits of Rime Membership include the following:

- Have your name sent to Tibet once of year and blessed by hundreds of monks in several             of Tibet’s greatest monasteries. You will also receive a membership card and a blessing cord.

- Receive 20% discount on shop items and events run by the Institute, including teachings by       visiting Lamas and Tibetan physicians, astrologers and so forth.

- Free attendance at regular teachings offered by the Institute and attend members-only               retreats.

- Receive 50% discount on personal sessions with Khentrul Rinpoche, subject to availability of   time.

- When available, be able to receive teachings by teleconference or via the internet in your             home.

- Be able to contribute to the Institute’s aims and activities at committee meetings.

Loyalty Membership

 
Loyalty membership is suitable for those who are genuinely committed to helping achieve the Institute’s aims.

 
Benefits include the benefits of Rime Membership as well as the following:

- Receive 30% discount on shop items and events run by the Institute, including teachings by       visiting Lamas and Tibetan physicians, astrologers and so forth.

- Receive 30% discount on the annual Tibet tour and any other events.

- Free personal sessions with Khentrul Rinpoche, subject to availability of time.

- Contribute to the institute’s aims and activities and have voting rights at all committee                 meetings.

Life Membership & Special Dharma Membership

 
People may also become Life Members or ‘Special Dharma Members’. These members can only be appointed by Rinpoche and then must be approved by the committee.

There are two types of life membership. The first is for those who are completely committed to Dharma practice, are not distracted by their personal life and are willing to devote their life to the work of the Institute. In this exceptional case, all basic needs and living costs will be provided for by the Institute or its members.

The second type of life membership is for those who are exceptionally generous in their support of the Institute; for example great benefactors.

 
‘Special Dharma Membership’ applies to certain people who have a spiritual connection with Khentrul Rinpoche and the Institute. These members have the same rights as loyalty members (except the right to vote), although they do have the capacity to contribute to decisions.

Benefactor

This membership is for those who would like to support the Institute by way of a donation from time to time.  Benefactors don't have voting rights; however, they are able to contribute to decisions.

Annual Membership Fees (incl. GST)

Associate Membership               $20

General Membership                  $150 singles, $200 for couples and $300 for families

Loyalty Membership                   $180 singles, $220 for couples and $320 for families

Membership can be paid in installments and lower fees can be negotiated in exceptional
circumstances. Fees are payable at the beginning of each financial year (July).
