Advanced Dharma class - Uttaratantra - the Sublime Continuum - ongoing drop-in classes

In 2012 advanced class, conducted by Khentrul Rinpoche, will focus on Kalachakra tantra including preliminary practices (meditation and prostrations). We will study the Divine Ladder and commentary over the course of the year. Students may also wish to take a transmision and substitute initiation in order to further develop their Kalachakra understanding, dates are available on the homepage. The material in this class relates more to Buddhist philosophy rather than ethics or 'religion'. As this is an advanced class, students should first email the Institute to advise their attendance and discuss previous Buddhist study.

There are a number of Rimé Institute membership options, contact the temple for more information. If you are experiencing financial hardship, we would prefer you attend and allow us to assist you. Please speak to a committee member if this is the case.

What you can expect

At the door you'll be greeted by a Rimé member, where you can ask questions and make class payment. Philosophy classes begin with a prostration (bow) to the Buddha Dharma and Sangha (the Buddha, his teachings and the community of advanced followers). We do this to acknowledge the pure nature of these beings as well as the pure nature that resides within all of us. This practice is optional for newcomers. Following this we perform a brief recitation of Buddhist ideas - either in English or Tibetan. The recitation prompts us to contemplate the importance of using our lives in a meaningful way. This is followed by a Dharma talk, the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the teaching, a guided meditation session, and then a brief chanting session to dedicate the class. Afterwards refeshments are offered to students and all are welcome to share their experiences.

Khentrul Jamphal Lodro Rinpoche

Born in the Golok province of middle Eastern Tibet,  Khentrul Rinpoche is considered the 7th emanation of the Bodhisattva Akasagarbha.

During his twenty years of formal Buddhist training he lived in many different monasteries belonging to the five different Tibetan Buddhist traditions. He was devoted to 25 great Lamas and received all the various practices of the existing lineages in Tibetan Mahayana and Tantrayana Buddhism. We are incredibly fortunate that our spiritual director, Khentrul Rinpoche, being the only completely qualified  Kalachakra Tantric Master in Australia and most Western countries, is willing to teach us this rare and precious tantra.
